THE SPIEL
Growing up poor on a council estate, imagination wasn’t just a hobby, it was an all I had. My window into the world was Blockbuster rentals and late-night Film4 marathons, sparking a drive to become the first in my family to trade labor for a creative life. I didn't wait for a door to open; I built my own—transitioning from a shelf-stacker and waiter to a self-taught filmmaker, shooting shorts with fellow waiters that eventually found their way to the BFI and Channel 4.
That scrappy, find a way work ethic defines my career. From filming as a DOP in war-torn Iraq to serving as the youngest Head of Department on ITV’s BAFTA-winning Emmerdale, I’ve mastered the art of moving fast without losing depth. Today, I embrace my roots as part of my creative voice. Whether directing high-end campaigns for Ford and Guinness or shooting indie features for Netflix, my work is grounded in authenticity, utilising 16mm, VHS, and digital formats to find the human heart in every frame.
Based in South London, I’m in my 30’s and still obsessed with the craft. When I’m not on set, you’ll find me documenting London’s pizza scene on 35mm, tinkering with my 1960s Ford Ranchero, or exploring cities by bike with my dachshund in tow. I am no longer poor, but I will always be creative.
